Dr. Melendez is a board certified, fellowship trained plastic surgeon who received his medical degree, with honors, from Ross University School of Medicine in Dominica. He completed seven years of general surgery training at Stony Brook University including two years of a research fellowship supported by the National Institutes of Health.

Dr. Melendez completed a two-year plastic surgery residency with the largest plastic surgery group practice in the United States – the Long Island Plastic Surgical Group. Additionally, Dr. Melendez completed his Microvascular Fellowship at the world-renowned Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland where he was trained by some of the most prominent microsurgeons in the country.
