About Us

Founded in 1914, Connecticut Audubon's Birdcraft Museum and Sanctuary is one of the oldest private songbird sanctuaries in the United States. Designated a National Historic Landmark, it features gardens and 6 acres of walking trails. On the grounds of the Sanctuary the newly renovated Birdcraft Museum features wildlife exhibits, and hosts conservation and environmental education programs for families and lifelong learners. Over 150 species of birds have been observed at this site which has operated a licensed bird banding station since the 1970s. Birdcraft is conveniently located just a few blocks from the Fairfield train station.
